Margaret Welsh has been acting
professionally since the age of 16. Her
recent stage appearances include the
Williamstown Theater Festival
production of A.R. Gurney’s Big
Bill directed by Mark Lamos, Jack
O’Brien’s production of Twelfth
Night at the Old Globe and Under
The Blue Sky at Los Angeles’ Geffen
Playhouse. New York theater credits
include The Triumph of Love
(Classic Stage Company), Peter Hedges’
Mrs. Neuberger Is Dead
(Playwrights’ Horizons) and Good As
New (Manhattan Class Company).
Other stage credits include Arms and
the Man and The Rivals for
Mark Lamos (Hartford Stage), Private
Lives and The Game of Love And
Chance for Stephen Wadsworth
(McCarter Theater) and The Enemy of
the People, Picnic,
Blithe Spirit, and The
Importance of Being Earnest (all at
the Longwharf Theater). Ms. Welsh’s
film credits include James Ivory’s
Mr. And Mrs. Bridge with Paul
Newman, American Heart with Jeff
Bridges, Smooth Talk with Laura
Dern and Treat Williams and the
upcoming Topa Topa Bluffs. She
recently starred in the television
pilot Are We There Yet? for the
WB Network (filmed in Barcelona) and
was a regular on the ABC show
American Dreamer with Robert
Urich and Carol Kane. She has appeared
on The Practice, Judging
Amy, NYPD Blue, The
Division, Providence, etc.,
as well as the ABC movie A Killer
Among Friends and Oprah Winfrey’s
The Wedding. She makes her home
in Los Angeles with her husband, actor
John Michael Higgins, and her dog
Bruno, where they all await their first
child due in August 2004.
