Walter Bobbie

Personal Information
Walter Bobbie received his first Lortel nomination as an actor in David Ives’s Polish Joke at Manhattan Theatre Club, and this season as director of Ives’s Venus In Fur at Classic Stage. Recent directing includes Terrence McNally’s Golden Age at the Kennedy Center, The Savannah Disputation at PH, The Marriage of Bette & Boo at the Roundabout, and New Jerusalem at CSC. The international hit Chicago won him the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards and has become the longest-running revival in Broadway history. Other Broadway includes High Fidelity, Sweet Charity, Twentieth Century, Footloose, and White Christmas. He was Artistic Director for City Center’s Encores, and serves on the Executive Board of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
