MICHAEL BOTTARI & RONALD CASE (Set and
Costume Design) have recently created
original set and costume designs for the
South African HAIRSPRAY.
They were nominated for the 2006 Drama
Desk Award and won best set and costume
design (Dean's List) for "FANNY HILL".
Off broadway, won the 2003 Lucille
Lortel Award ,and nominated for the
Drama Desk for their costumes for
Charles Busch's "SHANGHAI MOON" and
their critically acclaimed film "DIE
MOMMIE DIE" won a Sundance Award as well
as "Best Costumes of 2003" in various
Film Awards. They have been a design
team for over thirty-eight years, having
designed both sets and costumes for
Broadway: Rodgers & Hammerstein’s much
loved STATE FAIR (Producer David
Merrick's last Broadway show) and PRINCE
OF CENTRAL PARK. Off-Broadway: AFTER THE
FAIR, LITTLE ME and CARNIVAL!, RICHARD
CORY, OPAL, MAN WHO SHOT LINCOLN, and
currently a new production of DIE MOMMIE
DIE. National tours: I DO! I DO! (Lucie
Arnaz), CAMELOT (Richard Harris),
SHENANDOAH (Ed Ames), MAN OF LA MANCHA
(Richard Kiley,John Raitt,Jack Jones)
the World tour of MY FAIR LADY (Noel
Harrison), the 25th Anniversary Tour of
THE KING AND I (Yul Brynner), FUNNY
THING... FORUM (Mickey Rooney), SHOWBOAT
(Shirley Jones), AL JOLSON TONIGHT
(Larry Kert) to mention a few. They were
nominated twice for the National
Broadway Theatre Awards (designs for
FIDDLER & LA MANCHA tours) Other
Regional credits include the costume
designs for the now legendary Betty
Buckley GYPSY at the PaperMill
Playhouse, the hit revival of DAMES AT
SEA which they won numerous critics
awards for their sets, costumes, and
projections in San Francisco and
recently played the Goodspeed Opera
House, CABARET at the Walnut Street
Theatre (Barrymore Award for Best
Costume Design),and many years at
Starlight Musicals in Indianapolis and
Burt Reynolds’Theatre (Carbonell
Awards). They have designed clothes for
LUCIE ARNAZ, LORNA LUFT, DEBORAH GIBSON,
ANDREA MCARDLE, DONNA MCKECHNIE, SUSAN
EGAN, JANIS PAIGE, NANNETE FABRAY, BETTY
BUCKLEY, VAN JOHNSON, JOHN RAITT, JOHN
DAVIDSON, LAURENCE LUCKINBILL, B.D.WONG,
to mention a few.They have designed the
last three national tours of FIDDLER ON
THE ROOF with Theo Bikel, and for the
past 7 years, teaching and designing (2
premiere ballets) for AMERICAN BALLET
THEATRE.
