Personal Information
MOS DEF, a native Brooklynite, has been acting since the age of nine. He has starred in NBC's "Cosby Murder Mysteries" and appeared in films including Spike Lee's Bamboozled, Monster's Ball and the upcoming Showtime and Brown Sugar. He is currently host/co-executive producer/music supervisor for HBO's "Def Poetry" series and was also a producer/writer/actor for the MTV series "Lyricist Lounge." As a hip-hop artist, he has released two albums, Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star ('98) and Black on Both Sides ('99). His third album is set for release this season. Topdog/Underdog marks his return to theatre and his Broadway debut.
