Jill Clayburgh

Personal Information
Jill Clayburgh has had a busy year in New York theater. She just wrapped up a run in the Pulitzer Prize nominated The Clean House by Sarah Ruhl at Lincoln Center. Prior to that she appeared in Keith Bunin’s The Busy World Is Hushed at Playwright’s Horizons. She also starred on Broadway in the Richard Greenberg comedy, A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, and in the revival of Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park.

She has been nominated for 2 Academy Awards, 4 Golden Globes, 2 Emmys and won the Cannes Best Actress Award, for the following; An Unmarried Woman, Starting Over, First Monday in October, Luna, Hustling and "Nip/Tuck". She has starred in 25 feature films including, I'm Dancing as Fast as I Can, Silverstreak, Semi- Tough, and Never Again. On television she has appeared on "Nip/Tuck", "The Practice", and "Ally McBeal", among others. On Broadway she starred in Design for Living, Jumpers, and the Tony award winning musicals Pippin and The Rothschilds. She has done regional theatre, off-broadway, and originated the role of Sunny in The Exonerated. This past year, she also starred in Running with Scissors, based on the book by Augusten Burroughs.

Clayburgh taught an acting seminar at Wheaton College, and taught two acting classes at the HB studio in New York. She is a member of the Actors Studio. She also studied acting with Uta Hagen and John Lehne.

Clayburgh grew up in Manhattan, and graduated from Sarah Lawrence College. She has three children, all out of the nest, and lives in Connecticut with her husband, David Rabe.
